Tippy Tap – Handwash Station that no one touches

Overview: A Tippy Tap is a simple concept that can have a huge impact on hygiene and the spread of disease.  A bottle of clean water is mounted so that small amounts can be poured at a time without dirty hands touching the bottle.  Clean water can be taken from the Handwash Steriliser or sea water can be used if this is not available. A design is shown below: The stick on the string allows the bottle to be tipped so that both hands can be used to catch the water and no contact at all is made with the bottle. The soap is mounted on a string beneath a tin to protect it from the weather Your task is to refine and modify this or to create your own design using only the materials you have available   Note: This activity is ideal to do as a CREST Award
